The Certificate III in Sterilisation Services provides individuals with the skills to perform sterilisation and infection control procedures in healthcare settings. This course covers decontamination, sterilising medical instruments, and maintaining infection control standards. Graduates are prepared for roles as Sterilisation Technicians, working in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patient care.

20 contact hours per week will be delivered through synchronised Online learning which includes on- campus simulation based training and Professional experience placement.
Besides the above structured learning, students are advised that they will be required to do 10 hours per week of unstructured learning.
The blended delivery mode is only available to domestic students on selected campuses and subject to eligibility.
Students must meet additional requirements for Professional Experience Placements as required such as a clear police check,working with children check & immunisations.

FACE TO FACE DELIVERY(For WA funding requirement only)
Students are expected to attend classes for a minimum of 2 days each week. For full-time studies, students must participate in at least 20 scheduled course contact hours weekly. This includes on-campus simulation-based assessments, which are a requirement of Western Australia’s Department of Training and Workforce Development.
Professional Experience Placement (PEP) is an essential component of some of
the units of this qualification. Students will commence the 80 hours of placement
(PEP) upon completing all theory assessments including simulation-based assessments
(SBA). During the PEP, students will apply the required essential knowledge and
skills to demonstrate competency for each unit of this qualification.
Each student will work in pairs with a buddy staff member under the supervision of
the workplace supervisor at the PEP facility.
An IHNA trainer and assessor will monitor the student’s progress during the
PEP. All
PEPs are arranged by IHNA. Students may arrange PEP by themselves if
preferred, as
agreed with and in consultation with, the course coordinator.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however, applicants should demonstrate ability to perform tasks as required by the industry:
Note: Mature age students (22+) may also be considered without the minimum education requirements. Each case will be reviewed individually to ascertain the capacity of the applicant to meet qualification requirements.
All IHNA students must complete the Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) assessment to ensure that students meet the necessary requirements for successfully undertaking the course. IHNA administers the LLND test to evaluate each student’s suitability.
Digital literacy:Note: Students must declare a disability or disorder (if any), or if they are on any medication which may require reasonable adjustments. Where a student breaches the above requirements, they could be excluded from their practical placements which may result in unsuccessful completion of the qualification.
The course is assessed using the following 3 methods.
The questions or knowledge-based assessments are made up of a series of relevant short to medium length questions and multiple-choice options for learners to respond.
The projects assessments require learners to respond to relevant scenarios, case studies and tasks. These can include, writing short or medium length reports or proposals. Analysing data and preparing reports. Templates are provided to assist learners to write policies and produces. Composing appropriate business style emails, preparing notes for meetings, presentations and reflecting on the learning.
The simulation assessments are supervised, in-class or online (real time) simulated activities consisting of various methods. They may include the following: Group and individual projects, role plays, individual and group activities including presentations.
