Introduction

Intravenous cannulation is a very common bedside medical procedure in which a cannula is inserted into a vein for administration of fluids, medicine and for the collection of blood samples. Use of peripheral venous catheters is common but infection can occur, and prove fatal, if care is not taken to monitor the site. Careful on-going maintenance of peripheral intravenous cannula is essential. This program is designed to theoretically prepare the nurse prior to performing the practical skill of Intravenous cannulation of the client.
