Course overview

The HLT54121 - Diploma of Nursing course gives students the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to work as an Enrolled nurse in a variety of health care settings. You will gain hands-on learning experience in IHNA’s simulated laboratories and reinforce your practical learning in a clinical environment through Professional Experience Placement (PEP). You will be able to work in acute care, chronic care, aged care, rehabilitation and mental health and other settings under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Entry Requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent;
  • OR
  • A completed vocational education qualification at Certificate III or Certificate IV level;
  • OR
  • Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 5), or above;
  • OR
  • For students wanting to apply as a mature age entry, be 21 years of age or older

Successful completion of the language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test and demonstration of competence level as exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy*

** Evidence refers to a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) test result from an Australian Government approved provider (for example, LLN Robot) at exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy. Australian students who have successfully completed an Australian Grade 12 certificate with an English subject and students who have undertaken a formal English language skills test (for example, the International Language Testing System) that meets program entry criteria referred to in criterion 6.1a, ENAS 2017 need only undertake the numeracy component of the LLN test.

Must meet any one of the below English skills entry requirements before the commencement of the course:

  • Has completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America, including at least two years between years 7 and 12
  • Has successfully completed at least five (5) years (full-time equivalent)continuous education taught and assessed solely in English, in are recognised country. These 5 years must include the current Diploma of Nursing. The Board will only accept the successful completion of five (5) years (full-time equivalent) continuous education that is a combination of: a) vocational and secondary education taught and assessed in English; or b) tertiary and vocational education taught and assessed in English; or c) combined tertiary, secondary and vocational education taught and assessed in English; or d) tertiary education taught and assessed in English. The last period of education must have been completed no more than five years prior to applying for registration. 
  • Successful completion of an English proficiency test any one as mentioned below:
    • IELTS – with 7 for each band and 7 overall (Academic).
    • PTE – with 65 each band and 65 overall
    • OET – with B each band and B overall

Placement Duration

400 hours

Throughout your placement, you will gain clinical experience across a variety of environments, such as private and public hospitals, general practitioner clinics, and aged care facilities. Our placements are organized at a national level to ensure you receive a diverse range of experiences and ample exposure to the clinical field.

4 days/week and 4 Hours/ day (Only for Domestic candidates)

NO, SBT, OSCA (Objective Structured Clinical Assessment) and PEP face to face on campus attendance mandatory and it is on Monday to Friday, 8.30 – 16.30. Minimum 4 weeks leave is required for every semester.

Yes, there is one day support session on each week. Apart from that there will be 24*7 online live support from student support team.

NO, we will organize the work placement for students. Arrangements are subject to availability.
