In Australia, there is a growing trend towards enabling and supporting the aged and people with disabilities to live in their own homes, with as much autonomy as possible. Even when they stay in community care centres, they often require personalised attention as each person’s needs are unique. Diet plans, physical needs and medical attention required will differ from patient to patient. Individual support workers are trained to take care of the needs of such patients on a one-on-one basis, and support their independence and well-being.
The CHC33015 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability) is a foundational course that offers the factual, technical, and procedural knowledge required to provide care for people in a community or residential setting. This is an entry pathway into the Aged Care or Disabled Care industry.
During this course, you will learn effective ways of supporting the independence and well-being of the patients under your care. You will know how to work with diverse people, recognise healthy body systems, and follow safe practices for direct client care. You will be able to facilitate the empowerment of the aged and disabled, and meet their personal support needs.
The CHC33015 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability) will equip you to work in roles that include, but are not limited to, the following:
